The crown jewel of the Historic Artists' District, nestled between Central Park West and Lincoln Center, the Atelier embodies the Gothic style and served as a home and work studio for world-renowned artists such as Dadaist Marcel Duchamp and Surrealist Salvador Dali.

While serving as a New York City pied-a-terre for our client living on the West Coast, we sought to maintain the pre-war essence that permeated everything and meticulously infuse it with modern luxuries.

By boldly swapping the alcove sleeping area and food preparation room, we maximized the space to develop a Great Room, which houses the living space and dining area adjacent to an open, professionally appointed kitchen, ultimately creating a true one-bedroom apartment.

Marchi Cucine's custom Italian kitchen (detailed to make a chef blush) is decked out with glass-door cabinetry, wood shelves, a library ladder to reach valuable storage spaces, a La Cornue stove, a Fisher and Paykel refrigerator, and a Full height Carrara marble backsplash.

Listone Giordano's hand-crafted dark wood Italian flooring, carefully set in a herringbone pattern, unifies the space.

Throughout the residence, decorative lighting by Apparatus, finished upholstered club chairs by Silverlace Design, sofa by Bright, lounge chair by Minotti, hand-knotted rug by ABC Carpet and Home, hand-painted tiles by Stone Source, and custom millwork.

As a finishing touch, the client's astonishingly unrivaled collection of artworks and objects was positioned and designed by Menino Design Studio.
