When the owners reached out to Menino Studio Design to support the renovation and redesign of their one story Private Residence, they struck a balance between inherent qualities and modern improvements.
Located in Pennsylvania, the Private Residence was originally custom designed by David Lynch in 1960 reminiscent of the Prairie design of Frank Lloyd Wright from the early 20th century. After being sold by the original family that contracted Lynch, the new home owners embarked on a thoughtful restoration and revamp to bring this “diamond in the ruff” back to life.
The original slate floors, stone walls, stunning fireplace, wood trim and overall structure was faithfully restored in 2019 to its original condition by the homeowner for this timeless beauty with exceptional attention to detail. The homeowners reached into Menino Studio Design to give the home a unique new and retro voice. The open floor plan with glass floor to ceiling opening to exterior courtyards allows natural light to flood the space.
Menino designed the living spaces in a functional modern and sophisticated style while honoring the original materials.
